Danish retailer NORMAL is preparing to open its first store in the west of Ireland.
The Galway store will be located at Eyre Square shopping centre and open its doors on Wednesday (2 September).
The expansion follows openings in Dublin, Cork and Mullingar over the past year.
The Eyre Square store will be NORMAL’s fifth in Ireland after the opening of locations at the Ilac Centre and Dublin Northside shopping centre, in Cork city centre and in Mullingar town centre.
The new store covers 285 square metres and will employs 15 people.
In addition to personal care, household essentials, snacks and drinks, NORMAL sells brands such as L’Oréal, Maybelline, Nivea, Gillette, Colgate, Garnier, Nescafé, Oreo, Vanish and Finish as well as exclusive brands such as PUCA Pure&Care, Alva and The Hair Project.
NORMAL said customers in Galway can expect a wide range of products across skincare, makeup, household essentials, snacks and drinks, with more than 100 new products per week.
Highlights include the store’s extensive K-Beauty skincare range, a large selection of Asian and American confectionery, trend-led makeup products, and a dedicated section featuring products specifically for men.
The first 10 people in the queue at the opening of the Galway store will receive a €30 gift card that can be redeemed in store.
There will also be 1,000 surprise bags for the first customers. Visitors can also expect interactive competitions, including the golden ticket-inspired ‘TADAAA Ticket’ competition
One customer purchasing a shopping bag at checkout could discover a hidden ticket redeemable for a €334 gift card.
“Galway has such a strong reputation as a vibrant retail and cultural destination, and we are delighted to be opening our doors in the heart of the city at Eyre Square,” said Navid Samarghandi, international sales manager at NORMAL.

Since opening in 2013, NORMAL has expanded to more than 1,000 stores across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Finland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Ireland.
