Emily Ratajkowski has a new man in her life. Last November, the model and My Body author was spotted out and about in New York City with French filmmaker Romain Gavras. At the time, the two sparked dating rumors as they were seen walking around the city arm in arm, even stopping to share a few kisses.

Months later, it appears the couple is still going strong, as they were seen shopping around Rome, Italy, and engaging in even more PDA. For their trip around the city, Ratajkowski wore a body-hugging little black halter dress, which she accessorized with a tiny black leather shoulder bag, Courrèges sunglasses, and a pair of white low-top sneakers. Gavras, meanwhile, wore a breezy, olive-green button-up shirt with white pants and a Polo Ralph Lauren baseball cap. The two looked so locked in as they shared a few kisses during their walk.

But, who is Gavras? Ahead, everything we know.

He is a director.

The French filmmaker is best known as a music video director, having directed visuals like “Bad Girls” by M.I.A., “Gosh” by Jamie xx, and “No Church in the Wild” by Jay-Z and Kanye West, the latter of which earned him a Grammy nomination in 2013.

In addition to his work on music videos, Gavras has directed a number of short films, including The Funk Hunt, La Barbichette, Easy Pizza Riderz, and Les Mathématiques du Roi Heenok. In recent years, he’s expanded his work into full-length films, including the documentary A Cross the Universe and the action drama Athena, which was nominated for the prestigious Golden Lion prize at the 79th Venice International Film Festival. His most recent project, Sacrifice, came out in 2025.

Gavras also comes from a lineage of filmmakers. He is the son of Greek-French director, screenwriter, and producer Costa-Gavras.

He previously dated Dua Lipa.

Prior to his relationship with Ratajkowski, the Sacrifice director was in a relationship with pop singer Dua Lipa, whom he dated in 2023 (Lipa is now married to actor Callum Turner). He became linked to Lipa shortly after ending his relationship with a different musical star: Rita Ora.

He’s taken part in art exhibitions.

Gavras teamed up with his frequent collaborator, the musician Surkin, to create 10 multimedia works titled ‍Visions of 2034, which were put on display at 180 Studios in London from June 12 to August 30. The works explored “peripheral dystopias – futures glimpsed from the margins, shaped less by collapse than by distortion.” Stars who collaborated on the project included Charlize Theron, Yung Lean, 070 Shake, and Damien Jalet.

Ratajkowski has confirmed their relationship.

The Too Much star confirmed their coupling when she shared a slideshow of photos in February 2026, which began with a photo of her and Gavras embracing. The caption was merely a sequence of fire emojis: “🔥🔥🔥.” It is unclear how they met.
