Kim Kardashian took a cue from her friend and former employer, Paris Hilton, earlier this week, when she got dressed up to celebrate her latest trip around the sun. Because, what better birthday uniform is there than a chainmail minidress?
On Wednesday evening, the reality star and Skims founder celebrated her 46th with a pre-birthday dinner at Baldi in the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, where she was joined by family members like her mom, Kris Jenner, sisters Khloé, Kourtney, and Kylie, and her brother, Rob, who made a rare public appearance for the occasion.
For the special night out, Kardashian turned to the Rabanne archives, pulling two looks with the help of the house’s current creative director, Olivier Rousteing.
Ultimately, she chose a pair of complementing haute couture creations from the Paco Rabanne Fall/Winter 1995-1996 collection: chainmail minidresses in shades of festive red and green.
The mesh metal pieces featured plunging necklines and multicolored crystal embellishments that lined the hems and were stitched along the waist like bedazzled belts. Each dress flowed around Kim’s figure like a micro robe, and they came with matching beaded headpieces for a regal finish.
Kim layered black boyshorts underneath the teeny statement pieces, while slipping into a set of black patent-leather sandal heels from Paris Texas. With the red look, she also wore a beaded cross-shaped pendant, which was seen on the original Rabanne runway as well.
Her coolest move of all, though? Kim managed to change her look halfway through the meal. She walked into the restaurant wearing the green dress, but was seen leaving the venue in the red version. Now that’s Libra behavior.
