Do you remember where you were on October 29, 2025, when Sydney Sweeney broke the internet with her sheer, chainmail naked dress? It was Variety’s 2025 Power of Women event at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and the actress stole the red carpet in a completely see-through metallic silver gown by Christian Cowan. The slinky piece twisted and wrapped around Sweeney’s body, molding her silhouette for a daring naked look.
And now, one year later, Sweeney is seemingly paying homage to the head-turning moment by pulling out another shimmery naked dress, this time at the Venice Film Festival. This piece—a Giorgio Armani Fall/Winter 2000 design sourced from Raffe Vintage—was not chainmail, but rather crafted from a sheer black fabric and covered entirely with silver sequins and tiny beads.
A little black rosette adorned one of the shoulder straps, while the skirt reached the floor. As Sweeney walked the carpet at an Armani Beauty dinner in Venice, the dress pooled around her stilettos, while diamond earrings continued the sparkle.
Sweeney wore a slick black liner to go with the black accents on her dress, and her famous blonde hair was down in silky waves.
The 83rd Venice Film Festival kicked off earlier this week, on September 2, with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars convening in the Italian coastal city to celebrate exciting premieres and honors—such as George Clooney, who was awarded the festival’s highest individual honor, the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.
The prestigious festival runs through September 12. See all the photos from the starry red carpet here.
