- The latest version of our best-tested smart ring is now up for pre-order and sizing kits are available now.
- The Oura Ring 5 is the smallest iteration to date and 40% lighter than its predecessor.
- Oura’s latest fitness tracker will ship out pre-orders on June 4.
OURA JUST ANNOUNCED the launch of its biggest (but in a literal sense, smallest) innovation to date: the Oura Ring 5. The brand promises the latest in its expansive line of high-powered smart rings will be its most compact version yet, and 40 percent smaller than the Oura Ring 4. Pre-orders are now open on its site with first shipments going out on June 4.
We’ve tested every Oura Ring since the first release, and one of the critical steps we recommend before purchasing a ring is getting one of Oura’s sizing kits. This kit is only $10, and the amount is applied toward the cost of the ring, but it assures that you get right the best fit for your finger. Each new iteration of the Oura Ring is a bit different, and the best readings come when it is snug on your forefinger.
Our editors have worn the Oura Ring 4 since it was released in late 2024 and have been impressed by its comfort, which easily fits into any active individual’s lifestyle. So the idea of an even more low-profile offering has us excited.
In addition to the 5’s new lightweight design, Oura also says it’s the most accurate version to date. The latest model introduces proprietary software features that combine your historical clinical metrics with real-time biometric insights for a more predictive view of your overall health. The 5 will introduce an expansion to its Symptom Radar—one of our favorite components of the 4, which was our best-tested smart ring of 2025.
An overhaul of the ring’s electrical, mechanical, battery, optical, and sensing designs makes for a ring that’s both lighter and thinner than previous iterations. It also introduces a smoother curvature for a more natural, all-day fit. The Oura Ring 4 was noticeably more comfortable in our testing than its predecessor, ditching nodules on the inside of the ring and shifting to a full titanium build.
The 5 is made with a similar lightweight non-allergenic titanium that Oura touts as “more durable and scratch resistant” than the 4. It’s also now fully waterproof; the 4 was water-resistant up to 100 meters.
Members can now also upload lab results directly into the Oura app for a more comprehensive view of their overall health. A new opt-in, IRB-approved study in Oura Labs pairs cognitive assessments from Cambridge Cognition to monitor your cognitive health. The ring also features Blood Pressure alerts to detect spikes, and it can now track patterns during sleep, when they are clearest. Similarly, the 5 implements a 30-day rolling view of sleep-related breathing patterns and disturbances to monitor if and how breathing changes are impacting your sleep.
We’ve started testing the new ring, and will be reporting back after we’ve spent some time with the new device. But all things considered, it looks like the latest version of one of our all-time favorite fitness trackers will be Oura’s best yet. And you won’t have to wait long to get your hands on one either.
