Lidl Ireland has won the World’s Best Grass-Fed Ribeye Award at the World Steak Challenge in Amsterdam.
The award-winning steak is exclusive to Lidl and will be available in stores nationwide from Monday (28 September).
The Grass-Fed Ribeye comes from Waterford-based Dawn Meats, and Lidl, along with Dawn Meats and its other supplier, Liffey Meats, took home a further 17 awards at the ceremony.
As a result, Lidl walked away from the World Steak Challenge as the most-awarded supermarket retailer in Ireland.
Neil Lanigan, commercial manager at Dawn Meats, said: “Dawn Meats is delighted to receive [an] independent endorsement of our beef quality, reflecting the hard work of our team and the trust our customers place in us.
“Irish beef is full of flavour, tenderness and juiciness – qualities that chefs and retailers around the world have come to rely on.”
Kevin Duffy, chief commercial officer at Lidl Ireland, said: “It’s been fantastic to see our long term partnership with Dawn Meats be recognised internationally as we win the award for World’s Best Ribeye Steak.

“At Lidl Ireland, providing the highest quality products at the best value on the market has always been our promise to our customers and this recognition underscores our strong commitment to providing world-class Irish produce at the best value on the market to shoppers across the country.”
The World Steak Challenge started in 2015 and is the ultimate benchmark for steak producers worldwide.
