Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Madison Square Garden wedding may have been the most talked-about event of the year, but the newlyweds themselves have kept their lips pretty sealed about their big night. After a flurry of photographs showing the couple’s famous friends entering the venue and getting ready for the ceremony circled the web, the onslaught of imagery and details slowed. (The public has not even gotten a look at Swift’s custom Dior gown by Jonathan Anderson or the castle built inside the arena.) But finally, Kelce has spoken out.

After a summer of weddings (not only his own) and travels, the NFL player returned to the Kansas City Chiefs training camp. In an August 12 press conference, he answered questions about his time off, calling it a “fun off-season.” As for the evening in question, he described the wedding as a “crazy night” that was “full of a lot of celebration.”

“Wedding was the best night of my life, and I appreciate everybody who came out and celebrated and had fun with us,” he said, before quickly redirecting the conversation back to “football, baby.”

That said, another reporter did sneak in a sports-related wedding question, asking the tight end how it felt as someone growing up watching sports to be at Madison Square Garden. “MSG, man,” the athlete responded. “You know I always told myself I’d go for a playoff game when the Knicks were rocking, and my wife went when I was stuck in training minicamp. I didn’t get my opportunity to go then, so it was kind of cool to be able to live out my childhood dream of being in that venue.”

He called the arena the “Mecca of all sports venues,” before expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to get married there and the privacy (and air conditioning) it provided.
