Is This Braun Nevo Electric Shaver the Game-Changer Your Grooming Routine Has Been Waiting For?

If you thought the Braun Series 9 Pro+ was the pinnacle of electric shaving, think again. After crowning it Men’s Health’s best overall electric razor, I wasn’t expecting much to top it—until Braun introduced the Nevo, a sleek new contender promising to raise the grooming bar even higher. But here’s the million-dollar question: Is the Nevo the next-generation GOAT in electric razors, or just the overhyped rookie trying to fill some very big shoes? Having spent a month putting this $600 powerhouse through its paces, I’ve got thoughts, feelings, and maybe a few surprises to share about whether this razor deserves a permanent spot in your bathroom routine—or your wallet’s deep, dark abyss. Ready to find out if Nevo truly lives up to the legacy? LEARN MORE

MY LOVE FOR the Braun Series 9 Pro+ has been well documented. It’s been listed as Men’s Health’s best overall electric razor since I joined the team as grooming editor in 2024. In fact, it was topping our razor testing the year prior when it was first released, as well. So when I heard Braun was dropping a new electric shaver, I was naturally intrigued.

Cons

  • One of the most expensive shavers on the market

I was lucky enough to get an early look at the Braun Nevo—which became available on Tuesday—and have been testing it for one month now to see if it lives up to the legacy of the Series 9 Pro+. To be clear, Nevo is not the next installment in the S9 series from Braun; it’s an entirely new device. Still, when you talk about Bronny James, it’s hard not to compare him to LeBron James. So, is Braun Nevo the next generation’s GOAT or more of an overpaid coach’s son? Let’s discuss.

Design and Features

At first glance, the Nevo appears to have a similar design to the Series 9. They each feature the same ergonomic shape with a thick foil head featuring the signature gold bar. Those similarities are mostly cosmetic. Like the Series 9, the Nevo is 100 percent waterproof and offers a 60-minute runtime on a single charge.

The biggest advancement with Nevo is the brand’s new AeroTouch feature. It combines an ultra-low-friction foil with intelligent sensors that automatically adjust to your beard density, helping the razor glide smoothly to maintain a close shave. It’s similar to the Series 9’s SensoAdapt, but adjusts its motor speed much more quickly by reading your beard density 340 times per second—up from 300 on the Series 9 Pro+.

The most noticeable difference, however, for me, is in the feel. Nevo is noticeably lighter—and quieter—than the Series 9. Its slick, metal handle, which is one cohesive piece rather than several screwed together, feels like the closest an electric razor has gotten to the timeless grip and handle of a classic safety razor. Plus, the carrying case is a huge upgrade. It’s a hefty, charging-capable hard-shell that more has the vibe of tech James Bond would use to break into a government’s computer system than a simple travel case.

Effectiveness

Both the Nevo and the S9 have a shaver head capable of 40-degree shifts, but the Nevo handles those angles more effectively. I think it’s due to the slimmer head and lighter design, but it cuts cleaner and requires fewer passes through the trickiest areas around the neck. As a huge fan of shaving with a safety razor, the single-piece metal handle design is the closest I’ve gotten to that feel with something modern and electric.

Just like past Braun razors, this is the closest shave you’ll get without switching to something manual. But it’s also one of the most gentle. I exclusively shave dry with it, and I’ve yet to have any ingrowns or irritation after using it. You’re never going to be able to shave your entire face with an electric razor without going through at least a couple of areas two or three times over, but the Nevo is the closest I’ve gotten to this dream. Even in tricky areas around my neck, it gives a quick, close shave.

The claimed 60-minute runtime is legit. I’ve been using my Nevo for about a month, and it’s still working off the initial charge. Granted, these shave sessions rarely last more than five minutes because the device shaves so quickly, but I think it’s reasonable to expect to charge this thing less than ten times a year, which is pretty wild all things considered.

Value

This is the one area that stops me from declaring the Nevo our new best overall electric razor, right now. For the full kit, with the care center (that cleans, dries, and prolongs the life of blades) and travel case, the Nevo retails at $600. That’s a premium price, no doubt about it, but it’s also a premium device.

That being said, I wouldn’t expect you to need another shaver for at least a decade—while swapping the blades every 12-18 months, of course—because this thing is durable as hell. I get the sense it could last through the apocalypse, to be honest. As long as you have access to electricity to charge it, you won’t need another electric razor.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Braun Nevo?

After only a month of using the Braun Nevo, I’m not quite ready to put it over the Series 9 Pro+, but the potential is certainly there. But that really just comes down to cost. The Braun Nevo delivers one of the closest, most comfortable electric shaves I’ve tested, gliding through even tricky areas like the neck with fewer passes and virtually no irritation.

Its lighter, quieter design and metal handle make it feel more like shaving with a well-balanced safety razor than a traditional electric shaver. If you’re able, it’s worth the investment. It’s the most luxurious shaving experience available to you in your own bathroom.
