It’s been three months since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce transformed Madison Square Garden into a fairytale wedding venue, saying “I do” in front of family, friends, and rock stars alike. And while we’re still waiting for photos of the bride’s custom Dior Haute Couture wedding dress, designed by Jonathan Anderson, we did just get a new tidbit of information from one of the evening’s guests-slash-performers: Sir Paul McCartney.
The musician, who sang a rendition of The Beatles’s “I Want to Hold Your Hand” at the July 3 nuptials, reflected on the experience during a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. “She asked me to do it,” he shared with the host, adding that the 1964 track was Swift’s own pick.
In turn, he revealed, he proposed an idea of his own. “She was on stage and I said, ‘you should sing along, and you should sing it to your man.’”
“Seems like reasonable advice,” replied Kimmel, as the crowd laughed.
Swift is a longtime friend of the McCartney family. In 2020, she graced the cover of Rolling Stone alongside the ex-Beatle, and in 2019, she collaborated with his daughter Stella on a capsule collection of Lover merch.
In addition to McCartney, Stevie Nicks and Avril Lavigne were both confirmed to have performed at the wedding. During an impromptu live karaoke set, additional guests, such as Sabrina Carpenter and Tim McGraw, were also believed to have taken the stage to sing renditions of their hit songs.
