Solana’s Record-Breaking October: Is the ETF Surge Igniting the Next Massive Crypto Explosion?

Is Solana quietly taking the spotlight as October’s altcoin crown jewel? At first glance, you might think it’s just another crypto riding the wave—but hold up. SOL isn’t just tagging along; it’s sprinting ahead with a sharp 9% weekly gain, pushing past $114 and toppling key resistance zones. Meanwhile, if you’ve been watching the SOL/ETH ratio creep up 4% alongside Bitcoin flirting with $80,000, you know something interesting is brewing beneath the surface. With altcoin momentum flashing green—70% of Binance-listed coins soaring above their 200-day moving averages and TOTAL3 climbing back over $800 billion after eight months—you’ve got to ask: Is this a general market revival or does Solana have its own secret sauce fueling this surge? Digging deeper, the data hints that SOL is not just surfing a market rotation but rather capturing fresh, hungry hands eager to pivot capital away from Bitcoin’s throne. As institutional inflows hit a notable $47.62 million and on-chain activity shatters records, the smarter money might just be whispering: Solana’s October story is only getting started. Curious if Solana’s momentum can hold and push it into an all-out breakout? Let’s dive in. LEARN MORE

Is Solana at the center of strong October momentum?

Technically speaking, SOL is leading the pack among large-cap altcoins with a 9% weekly gain, surging to as high as $114 and breaking above key resistance. The SOL/ETH ratio is also up 4%, signaling stronger relative demand for Solana versus Ethereum as Bitcoin reclaimed $80,000.

The timing is key. As the chart below shows, TOTAL3 has moved back above $800 billion for the first time in more than eight months, while 70% of Binance-listed altcoins are now above their 200-day moving average.

After nearly a year of grinding weakness, this shows altcoin momentum is spreading, with capital rotating back toward alternative assets.

Naturally, the question becomes: Is SOL just riding the rotation, or is there a “SOL-specific” catalyst?

The technical setup suggests the latter with increased relative demand. The SOL/BTC ratio is up more than 4%, as Solana dominance broke above 2.3%, just as Bitcoin dominance struggles near 60%.

This implies that Solana [SOL] is not just riding the rotation of the broader altcoin market but is attracting relative demand as capital rotates away from Bitcoin.

More importantly, another setup is beginning to take shape underneath. The key question now is whether Solana’s current setup will be able to hold in order to turn the base into a breakout heading into October.

Solana gains an edge as Bitcoin’s dominance stalls

As an L1, Solana’s rising dominance could be more than just rotational flows.

The institutional data adds weight to this setup. According to SoSoValue, the U.S. Spot Solana ETFs recorded $47.62 million in net inflows on the 18th of September, with the entire inflow coming through the BSOL ETF.

This suggests the move is being supported by fresh demand not just than just a rotation from other altcoins.

Notably, here’s where the chart below comes into play. According to Blockworks data, the Solana network achieved an all-time high in terms of on-chain activity, which reached 5.2 billion non-vote transactions in August.

This activity increased by 19% compared to the previous record set in July. In addition, memecoin-related activity was also a significant contributor, with a weekly Spot volume amounting to $5.2 billion, which is the highest since November 2025.

In essence, the overall technical setup looks increasingly compelling for Solana.

With growing dominance, stronger relative performance, new institutional inflows, and record network activity, it’s clear the altcoin is gaining strength beyond the broader altcoin rotation.

In turn, this provides SOL with significant fuel to extend its 9%+ weekly rally and potentially lead the broader market into October.

Final Summary

  • Solana is gaining strength as altcoin momentum returns.
  • Strong demand and record network activity could push SOL higher into October.
