At a press conference for her Daisy Chain Fields festival on Friday, Rodrigo took to the podium in a lustrous pale pink minidress custom-made by Palestinian fashion brand Nöl Collective. The sleeveless dress featured fluttery cap sleeves, pleated ruffles along the neckline, and a flared skirt. The design also included tatreez, or traditional Palestinian embroidery, which depicted embroidered birds and links of daisy chains. Rodrigo rounded out her look with a pair of burgundy Mary Jane stilettos from Gucci and a silver pendant necklace.
During the press conference, Rodrigo announced that the Daisy Chain Fields Festival will donate $10 million to 10 nonprofits focused on women and girls’ rights and empowerment.
“Daisy Chain Fields was created to celebrate the power of what can happen when we come together to support one another,” Rodrigo said, per The Hollywood Reporter.
She was joined on the podium by leaders of the partnering nonprofits, including Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, Freefrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center, and Planned Parenthood.
Daisy Chain Fields will take place today at Irvine’s Great Park. In addition to a headlining performance from Rodrigo, the festival will feature sets from Chappell Roan, Bikini Kill, Doechii, Mitski, and the Breeders. There will also be special appearances from Stevie Nicks, Karen O, and Sarah McLachlan, who founded Lilith Fair—the inspiration behind Daisy Chain Fields—in 1997.
