WE’VE TESTED MORE adjustable dumbbells than we can count. Anyone with a makeshift home gym knows they’re an essential. The best options are space-saving, easy to use, and in some cases, portable. Prime Day is also a great time to get them.
It’s still early in the game, but according to our internal data, one of the top-selling fitness products we’ve recommended this Prime Day is the FLYBIRD DB2 Adjustable Dumbbell Set, which is now 31 percent off on Amazon. It’s undoubtedly the best budget option on Amazon, and holds up surprisingly well to some of the major brands we’ve tested. Nonetheless, we’ve unearthed a few more adjustable dumbbell deals since Prime Day officially kicked off, including our best-tested set, the BowFlex Results Series SelectTech Dumbbells.
Our Favorite Prime Day Deals
Our editors love the BowFlex Results Series 552 SelectTech Dumbbells. They’re a great value buy at full price; $150 off is a complete steal. They adjust from 5 to 52.5 pounds in 2.5-pound increments and feature a weight distribution akin to traditional dumbbells. The single-twist selection dials are easy to maneuver, and the set now features durable metal components, an upgrade from the plastic casing on previous models.
The Powerblock Pro 50 Adjustable Dumbbells also held up well in our trials, but they’re a little funkier looking. The design is certainly unique, but they’re compact, portable, and perfect for compound movements like Romanian deadlifts and heavy presses. They’re also great for advanced lifters; the brand offers expansion kits if you want to add on more weight down the line. The Powerblock Pros are now almost $100 off—a rare deal.
Another one of our favorite options comes courtesy of another home gym staple brand—NordicTrack. It may be most recognized for its wide array of at-home and commercial treadmills, but the brand also offers some of our favorite adjustable dumbbells at an affordable price. They’re sturdy, easy to use, and feature a weight range of 10 to 55 pounds in 2.5- pound increments. The plates are a little bulky, but the knurled metal handle is a small but welcome addition, especially from a durability standpoint. They’re currently almost $80 off, and just around $320.
I use a lot of Flybird’s equipment in my own personal home gym. You won’t find a better set for around $250. The only caveat with the DB2 model is weight incrementation; it takes a more streamlined approach. You can effortlessly switch between 15, 25, 35, 45, 55 LBS, but there’s not a lot of room for in between. They’re great for seasoned lifters (the condensed weight options might even be ideal for some), but if you want a few more options, stick with the alternatives. Still, the weight distribution is great, and they feel like standard dumbbells you’d find at your commercial gym, which isn’t always the case with adjustable models.
