In a bit of welcome news, Todd Snyder announced it’s cutting back to two biannual sales. (I, personally, cannot stand the perpetual sale calendar that department stores, Walmart, and Amazon have forced on us.) Todd Snyder, the man himself, wrote a note to the brand’s customers mentioning a focus on a curated collection. Whether that means more curated as in higher-end; more curated as in fewer items; or more curated as in a more focused vision—I do not really know. What was clearly stated is that there are going to be fewer sales. You get two biannual sales a year, and the first just kicked off with plenty of heat.

In this first sale, you’re getting the best of Todd Snyder—that singular design, singular world-building. If this is a sign of things to come, I much prefer this model to the always-on-sale Amazon thing. I’ll go through my favorites in this story, but first I have to call out a New Balance deal that I don’t think I have ever seen. The 990v4—my favorite 990 version, for what it’s worth—is 33 percent off in an almost full size run. New Balance itself never touches that Made in U.S.A. line, so this is a real shocker. I advise you buy two pairs.

But as for my actual favorites, the things I’m salivating over, it’s clothing. For some time now, I’ve been coveting a pair of Todd’s white Western Jeans. I’ve needed a good flared jean to wear in the summer over my boots, but at $248 I was always a touch hesitant to pull the trigger. If they’re still in stock by the time payday rolls around, they’re mine.

Elsewhere, it’s all summer clothing—which is nice, considering end-of-season sales usually mean you have to shop for winter in summer or vice versa. This linen houndstooth blazer for 50 percent off is a killer find if you have weddings or business events this summer: soft shoulder, good lapel, and just enough nip at the waist. And though it’s not as wearable, a bit more runway, the linen-silk version with an almost jute-like weave is fucking gorgeous. I can’t justify the purchase right now, but if I could this would be in heavy rotation for summer.

Though my taste leans toward blazers, jeans, and things, there’s plenty of the usual Todd Snyder best sellers in the sale. You have knit polos and linen trousers as far as the eye can see. There are a few flashy dinner jackets—that brown velvet for $600 is a steal even if you use it for one black-tie party a year—and runway pieces.

There are also another great sneaker deal on a pair of Todd Snyder-green Asics Gel NYCs, a true deal at $84. Besides all that, there are tanks and tees galore. Really, this is a blowout sale.
