Canadian franchise development firm Blitz Franchise is expanding into Europe with the establishment of a new Irish base in Co Waterford.
The move marks the company’s latest step in its international expansion and will see it provide franchise development services to Irish and European businesses looking to scale their brands domestically and internationally.
Blitz Franchise will work with businesses across the franchise development process, including assessing franchise potential, structuring business models, marketing franchise opportunities, generating leads and recruiting franchisees.
“There are not many companies in Ireland offering the integrated services that we are bringing to the market,” said Ali Khan, Vice-President of Blitz Franchise.
“The response we’ve received so far has been very positive and confirms that there is a real need for this type of franchise development expertise.”
The company said it already has several brands working with it and plans to expand its network and establish a presence in the Irish franchise market.
It also plans to create further employment in Ireland, with several new hires expected to join the local team in the coming months.
Blitz Franchise has appointed Tracey Cusack as managing director of its Irish operation. Cusack has previously worked on the development of brands including O’Brien’s Sandwich Bars and Camile Thai, and led Thindi from concept through to launch.
She also has 11 years’ experience as a business owner, giving her experience from both the franchisor and operator perspectives.
“I was keen to work with Blitz Franchise due to their experience in this market in Canada, and I’m excited to bring this new streamlined approach to franchise development to Ireland,” Cusack said.
The company said Ireland shares a number of characteristics with its home market of Québec, including a relatively small and concentrated market and a strong entrepreneurial community.

Blitz Franchise said these similarities provide an opportunity to build relationships with Irish brands while applying experience gained through its work across Canada.
The Waterford base will form part of the company’s wider European expansion as it seeks to work with businesses seeking to use franchising as a route to growth.
