For a long time, Hailey Bieber was practically a poster girl for Pilates. But in a recent interview with Time, she explained how her routine had shifted. “I think [Pilates] is a little over,” she confessed. “I love Pilates, I really do. But I think it’s become a little bit of a fad, and it’s really hard to find really good teachers that care about good form.” Now, heavy resistance, progressive overload, and power are her priorities.

Enter Kirsty Godso, the New Zealand-born, LA-based celebrity trainer who’s been working with Bieber since her pregnancy in 2024. Bieber has shared various insights into their sessions together, from a focus on correcting postpartum “rib flare” to building her lower body with elevated hip thrusts, with Godso’s signature style relying on slow, highly controlled movements that maximize time under tension to force muscle gain.

Speaking of her celeb clients, Godso told Remix magazine: “These are some of the most scrutinized women in the world—there’s immense pressure on them to look a certain way. So the most important thing for me is making sure they feel good for themselves, not just for everyone else’s expectations.”

“In terms of how I approach their training, there’s foundational work that stays consistent across the board, but then there are very specific demands depending on what’s happening in their careers, like Hailey navigating pregnancy and postpartum. My main objective is always keeping them ready at a baseline level of strength and conditioning—because in their world, there’s always something happening. A major shoot can pop up with 48 hours’ notice. They’re some of the hardest working people I’ve ever met.”

It’s about building full-body, functional strength that extends beyond the weight room, so if that’s your goal, try Godso’s simple three-move glute workout. “This is my go-to glute combo when I’m short on time but need to get that work in,” she says. Here’s how to do it, with demos from Godso.

How to do it: Perform each exercise for 12 reps. Rest for 90 seconds between exercises and repeat for three rounds.
