Ripple [XRP] is trading around the $1.30 level, with the altcoin only up by a percent in the past 24 hours. The sentiment is down around 6% even though the number of mentions and engagements was substantial, at around 100.83K.

Despite the slowness in the price of XRP, what happened overnight proved there could be something beneath.

Transaction volume explodes as South Korean traders dominate

As per sentiment data, XRP Ledger transaction volume exploded from around $832 million to $49.66 billion. Over the past week, volume was ranging below the $1 billion mark. This was more than a 50x increase in just a few hours.

This surge in the total dollar value of coins transferred on-chain coincided with a rebound from $1.25. The massive change in volume could mark the bottom for XRP even though it was yet to be confirmed.

Of this volume, most of the exchange transactions came from South Korean traders. Even with the general market looking ugly, XRP/KRW was the top spot pair by volume, beating Bitcoin [BTC].

As per CoinMarketCap, the pair accounted for 10.18% of the total, which is equivalent to $55 million, while BTC was at 7.82% with $42 million. This showed Asian traders were buying XRP over BTC as the price jumped from $1.25 to $1.30.

Will XRP call Options push prices up?

Further analysis of the Options data indicated that buyers were dominating activity. As per data from Deribit, calls were double the number of puts, that is, at 31,327 against 16,628.

The notional Open Interest (OI) was $62.30 million for a Put/Call Ratio of 0.53. The largest notional value of XRP was worth $4.22 million, placing the $2 target area into focus.

While Options positioning leans bullish, buyers are beginning to appear in the most important areas. These bulls are defending the $1.25 support zone once again despite selling pressure from whales.

It bounced off the $1.25 demand area but faces rejection at $1.30. The altcoin needs to stay above this level with the Money Flow Index (MFI) in support. The MFI rallied from oversold territory to 49.

Additionally, the Bull Bear Power (BBP) also flipped green, though the momentum was still fresh. Now, the altcoin has had the longest streak of green 4-hour sessions since the 12th of October.

Therefore, XRP appeared to be headed toward $1.40, and the building momentum suggests a move toward $1.50. Otherwise, the altcoin may fall back to $1 if the support zone is lost.

Final Summary

  • XRP Ledger transaction volume exploded from $832 million to $49.66 billion over the night.
  • XRP call Options are double puts, which set up the altcoin to reclaim $1.40 or higher if $1.25 can hold.
