Unlock Global Growth in SGD: The MSCI World Index Fund Hedged to Your Currency Is Now Within Your Reach at Endowus—Are You Ready to Ride the Next Wave?

Ever found yourself tangled in the head-spinning debate: should I pick a hedged ETF or just stick with the straightforward denominated version? It’s like choosing between wearing shades at night or not—sounds odd, but it just might make all the difference for your portfolio. Lately, I’ve been digging into whether hedging against currency risk actually pays off, especially when it comes to the global heavyweights like the MSCI World Index. And guess what? The questions keep pouring in—especially regarding an MSCI World option hedged to SGD. Thanks to a sharp-eyed reader, Lincoln, we uncovered the iShares Developed World index fund that offers this exact feature, boasting lower fees than some of its close competitors and welcoming investors without the Accredited Investor tag. Curious if this could be the trick to fine-tuning your global investments with a local twist? Let’s jump in, peel back the layers, and see if this hedged avenue could be your next money move. I wrote two pieces recently exploring whether it’s necessary to go with a hedged class of the ETF or just go with a denominated one with the same strategy.

I think this post on how various unhedged Dimensional Global Core Equity and MSCI World indexes do against each other also explains you do win with equities, just how much you can forecast the future:

I think since then, I have enough people asking me if there is an MSCI World that is Hedged to SGD.

My long time reader Lincoln found this the iShares Developed World index fund SGD-Hedged on Endowus. The fund fees is 0.14% p.a. which compares to 0.20% p.a. for IWDA (the LSE-listed Irish domiciled MSCI World ETF) and 0.10% p.a. for the Amundi MSCI World unit trust.

The ISIN code is: IE000XUK0R09

You don’t have to be an Accredited Investor to invest in this. You can even invest your SRS in this.

Usually, people will buy it under Endowus’s FundSmart which allow you to mix and match to create a portfolio. But if you only own one fund in FundSmart, the fee is 0.30% p.a.

Poems do list the BlackRock iShares Dev World Index Fund D SGD Hedged. But it is not available for trading. This is usually meant for advisers who finds this suitable to recommend to their clients, that have access to the Philips FAME platform. The minimum investment is listed at SGD 50,000 lol.
