Daisy Edgar-Jones Brings Back a Hidden Gem from Stella McCartney’s 1999 Spring Line—And It’s Turning Heads Everywhere!
Ever noticed how some press tours feel like they just drag on forever, yet others you secretly wish would stick around a bit longer? Well, the Sense and Sensibility press tour totally falls into the latter — at least for me. I mean, who wouldn’t want a dozen more red carpet moments drenched in Austen-era charm, especially when Daisy Edgar-Jones and stylist Dani Michelle are turning Georgian fashion codes into modern masterpieces? Think delicate corsets, romantic underthings, and empire waists — but remixed for 2024’s spotlight. The way they’ve embraced history without getting stuck in the past? That’s the kind of sartorial savvy that makes a stylist’s heart race and the fashion obsessed click with glee. So, let’s talk about Daisy’s final red carpet bow — a cream-and-purple corset set that’s leaving a lasting impression. Ready to see how vintage vibes and modern glam collide? LEARN MORE
I’ll admit it: I don’t want the Sense and Sensibility press tour to end. While back-to-back premieres and extensive lineups of method dressing can often grow overdrawn and tiresome, I’d be more than content with a dozen more takes on Austen-era looks from Daisy Edgar-Jones and stylist Dani Michelle. Bringing Georgian style codes into the 21st century, the duo has struck the perfect balance between historical references and contemporary red-carpet fashion, modernizing delicate corsetry, romantic undergarments, and empire waists.
Last night’s rendition of period-inspired red-carpet dressing was, sadly, Edgar-Jones’s final. But for the Los Angeles premiere, the actor went out with a bang. Honoring her character and on-screen wardrobe (Elinor Dashwood had a closet full of soft lavender hues), the actor stepped out wearing a moody, romantic cream-and-purple corset set from Stella McCartney’s Spring 1999 collection for Chloé.
“Earlier this year I got the privilege to see the movie and immediately made a mood board for how we would storytell Daisy’s character in today’s fashion,” Michelle wrote on Instagram. “This 1999 Chloé by Stella McCartney was center of our mood board, and it was the magical girls at Raffe Vintage that sourced this look into our lives.”
On top, the ensemble featured a cream-colored corset with floral detailing and a sweetheart neckline, with a semi-sheer shawl draped over Edgar-Jones’s shoulders. The coordinating two-tone skirt, in Elinor’s signature hue, floated down to the carpet, where it was met by matching open-toe heels.
“When creating customs and imagining our world, Daisy always said she wanted to wear lavender to honor Elinor’s costumes, and having our final red carpet in this moment was everything. Thank you Daisy for being beyond words,” the stylist continued, noting that she cried at the final premiere watching the film again. “Yes sisters. Yes love. Yes yearning.”
