Zodiac signs, vineyards, directions, TVs, birthday surprises, 10/13, and more: Taylor Swift’s pre-recorded Emmys cameo, or should we say her “cool pre-taped sketch thing,” was packed full of Easter eggs. But while the world of Swifties have been busy decoding the artist’s cryptic clues and hidden messages, there’s one thing we know for certain, and that’s that she tapped Alexander McQueen for the coolest detective look around.
Portraying a “rookie” on the police force, Swift joined longtime friend and Emmys host Mariska Hargitay for a Law and Order: SVU-themed skit, aired during the award show. The actor, in character as Olivia Benson, put her team to work trying to crack the biggest question of the night: Would Swift be making an appearance at the Emmys?
Helping them out, the Eras Tour star herself walked into frame, offering up some Easter eggs and using all the SVU lingo she has picked up as a loyal fan of the show. And for the scene, she wore a suit that fit the gig. Courtesy of Alexander McQueen, the two-piece was composed of a gray wool-twill single-breasted blazer with a tailored peplum back, and matching straight-leg trousers with subtle pleating.
She layered the pieces over a white striped button-down shirt and added a thick black belt, complete with none other than a proper police badge. It’s all in the details.
(And, speaking of details, there was also a surprise guest appearance from feline Olivia Benson, Swift’s cat whom she named after the SVU character.)
