Break’s over, ladies. Lioness is renewed at Paramount+ for a third season, with the CIA thriller set to return to streaming television later this summer. Here’s when you can watch the next season of Lioness.

On Friday, Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios announced that Lioness will return for its third season on August 2 on Paramount+. Executive producers and stars Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman return for another round of espionage and betrayals.

In season 2, Kidman’s Joe McNamara oversaw the Lionesses in a mission that entangled Mexican cartels with Chinese support. Although their mission succeeded, the team was left heavily wounded—not just physically but mentally and spiritually. Now, in season 3, Paramount teases the Lionesses wrestling with the fallout of their actions while taking on a whole new threat in a different corner of the world.

Paramount is staying quiet about the specifics of season 3. But its press release confirms that the bulk of the show’s existing cast will return, including Morgan Freeman, Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Genesis Rodriguez, and more.

A third season for Lioness was confirmed back in October 2025, but a premiere date was unknown until now. But might this third season be the last? In a Vanity Fair interview from 2024, Saldaña said that she was signed on for three seasons of Lioness. Whether that means her character will bow out of the Lioness program after season 3, or the show at large would be the end, is still unclear.

Esquire’s own Josh Rosenberg wasn’t thrilled about the season 2 finale when it premiered in December 2024. “The average speed in this show is 200 miles per hour, and the only acceptable speaking volume is at the top of your lungs. Lioness season 2 didn’t just jump the shark—it blasted its brains out,” he wrote. He called out Sheridan’s own gratuitous cameo as a Delta Force operator who swoops in and saves day. “America lives to see another sunrise … all thanks to Taylor Sheridan.”

Hopefully, season 3 can bring the heat without making my colleagues groan. Or is that too much to actually ask for? We’ll find out soon enough when summer starts winding down.
