At the 86th annual Peabody Awards, Mandy Moore reminded us that sometimes the most elegant fits are the ones without a lot of bells and whistles.

For the media ceremony, the This Is Us alum took it back to the basics, with a stripped-back, two-tone design from Rodarte, which was like classic Old Hollywood with a couple of modern twists.

Styled by Erica Cloud, the bias gown featured a black bodice and a contrasting white skirt, with the two halves being separated by an angular drop waist.

The plunging velvet bodice felt a touch Victorian thanks to its puffy dramatic sleeves with large bows that decorated the shoulders like epaulets. Over the past few years, bows have been one of the strongest motifs in fashion, and their ubiquity clearly hasn’t slowed down yet. The actor’s two-tone look was very classic Old Hollywood.

As for the skirt, it was cut with a scalloped bottom hem, while the shape was composed of slight ruffles that tapered inward, making it seem at times like Moore was wearing billowing pants.

Moore presented one of the awards at the ceremony.

To match the upper half of her dress, she slipped into inky sandal heels, while carrying a geometric black clutch, too. Finally, she accessorized with silver, multi-hoop earrings adorned with pavé diamonds, as well as rings to match.

At the ceremony, Moore served as one of the presenters, alongside fellow actors Ben Affleck, Ethan Hawke, Halle Bailey, Anthony Anderson, Michael Urie, Yara Shahidi, and more.

This is her second year in a row attending the ceremony. Last year, she wore a silky butter yellow look from Adam Lippes, paired with a teal Bon Bon bag and heels from Jimmy Choo.

Next year, let’s hope she makes it a three-peat.
