Irish-headquartered Viatel Technology Group has expanded its cybersecurity operations with the acquisition of Scottish consultancy FullProxy, strengthening its presence in the UK and boosting its capabilities in cyber resilience as demand for security services continues to grow.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition gives Viatel a stronger foothold in Scotland and the wider UK enterprise and public sector market, while adding specialist expertise in cybersecurity consulting, network infrastructure and cloud security.

The move follows Viatel’s acquisition of Belfast-based Cybit Cyber last year and forms part of the group’s strategy to build an integrated technology business spanning connectivity, cybersecurity and digital services.

Backed by investment from Macquarie Capital, Viatel said the latest acquisition comes as organisations face increasing pressure to secure digital infrastructure while preparing for greater adoption of artificial intelligence.

FullProxy has built a strong customer base across sectors including healthcare, financial services, local government and critical infrastructure, with clients including the NHS, the Scottish Government, Virgin Money and FNZ.

The company was recently named among TechUK’s Top 200 Growing Companies and shortlisted for Scottish Cyber Security Company of the Year 2025.

Its technical credentials include Expert Fortinet Partner status and F5 Gold Tier partner accreditation, providing expertise in areas such as network design, cloud authentication and endpoint security.

Paul Rellis, chief executive of Viatel Technology Group, said the acquisition reflects growing customer demand for specialist cybersecurity expertise.

“As clients adopt AI and manage increasingly complex digital estates, the need for deep cybersecurity expertise has become more urgent.

He added that the deal supports the group’s long-term growth strategy.

FullProxy chief executive Ewan Ferguson said joining Viatel would allow the company to expand its offering while maintaining its customer-focused approach.
